Source analysis at seizure onset

The filtered and averaged data are displayed on the left and are sorted by magnitude. Regional sources in the right and left temporal lobes are used in a finite-element-model (FEM) of the head, i.e. a standardized realistic head model.

A single regional source localizes to the right temporal lobe. The source waveforms (middle) show right basal-vertical activity followed by polar-lateral activity. This indicates mesio-basal onset and antero-lateral propagation during each seizure cycle (red traces).

The mirror source (blue) in the left hemisphere is used to document the lateralization of the seizure onset which is most obvious when comparing the source waveforms of the right (red) and left (blue) temporal lobes.
